White House Farmer

Check out white house farm advocacy efforts at The White House Farmer, The Who Farm, and Michael Pollen's 2008 Letter to the President-Elect.

Urban gardens are having a long-needed comeback, as evidenced in San Francisco with the revival of a victory garden in San Francisco's Civic Center. The Fenway Victory Gardens in Boston is the longest running urban garden program in the country – it has over 500 community garden plots and is my personal version of Disneyland! I'm going to visit it in a week so I'll see what East Coast gardeners do in winter....

I am excited about all the inspiring artist projects along the urban agriculture theme: Eco Heroes (Suzanne Husky), Edible Estates (Fritz Haeg), Future Farmers (Amy Franceschini), the Mission Greenbelt project (Amber Hasselbring), and The Greenhorns, a documentary about young farmers (Severine von Tscharner with Brooke Budner and other great peeps).
